Wow! I have been tagged by Missy to list 7 weird things about myself. Thanks Missy! I'm supposed to tag 7 friends to do the same thing, but honestly I'm so new to the blogging world I don't even know if I have 7 friends with blogs to tag! Here is what is weird about me:
1. I despise pickles!
I hate pickles, I mean really really hate them. I don't allow them in my house and I don't even like to be near them. When I order a sandwich or burger at a restaurant and a big dill pickle is on the side, my husband has to remove it and then I have to wipe up all the pickle juice with a napkin (and I have to get a new napkin). Those gherkin things and those bread and butters are the worst offenders but I hate all pickles equally. And here is the weird part--yes, I love cucumbers and yes, I love dill.
2. Veggies and Fruits
I didn't eat any fruits or vegetables as a child. My parents were not the "you must eat everything on your plate" kind of parents. I never ate an apple, orange, not even lettuce until I was an adult. I did like juice so maybe that is how I survived, I have no idea. But as an adult in my early 20's I started craving vegetables that I had never eaten before. I love vegetables now and eat every kind. I eat fruit too but I don't crave it the way I do vegetables. As my reward for being such an incredibly picky eater I now have a 2 1/2 year old who refuses to eat just about everything!
3. Ambidextrous Face
I think I have an ambidextrous face. I can lift each eyebrow independently of the other. I can flare my nostrils. I can turn my tongue upside down (really, I can) and I can make my tongue become the shape of a hotdog bun.
4. Career Path
After working in software and web development industries for more than 12 years I decided to become a nurse. I graduated nursing school while pregnant with my son. I wanted to stay home with him so I never began officially working as a nurse other than a couple of part-time temporary jobs. And now as a stay at home Mom I do Web Development at home!
5. My hair is gray.
Even though I am only in my "mid-thirties" my hair is very gray. I started getting gray hair as early as 16. My Mom never dyed her hair and hers was "salt and pepper" when I was a child and slowly became more salt than pepper. Her hair is completely white now. I have dyed my hair for years so I don't know what it would look like if I let it go by I do know that when the roots grow in there is way too much gray. I think I'm too young to go natural for now, maybe later in life.
6. I am also known as KG6RLF
I have a Ham Radio license. It's my husband's hobby really, but before having our son we used the radios quite often and I had to get my license in order to use the radio. To pass the test I had to answer questions like this:
What is the maximum transmitting power an amateur station may use on 7080 kHz?
A. 200 watts PEP output
B. 1500 watts PEP output
C. 2000 watts PEP output
D. 100 watts PEP output
Lets just say that I did a lot of memorizing because as hard as I tried to understand this stuff it went right over my head. But, I did pass the test on the first try.
7. My underarm hair is disappearing!
I am currently doing a trade with a laser hair removal nurse. I am creating her website and she is removing all of my underarm and bikini line hair! I am so excited about not having underarm hair anymore, it is almost gone and I love not having to shave everyday. It hurts to get it removed and I am a big baby about it, I'll be glad when it is over (which should be soon).
