I had a little "me time" today. I went downtown and sat by the river with a cup of coffee, saw a small quilt show that was being held, and went to the bookstore. Then I went to my Mom's and we finished sewing our Simplicity 4589 tops. When I got home my husband had made dinner. What a wonderful Saturday!
I'm not too familiar with sewing clothes so this top was challenging for me. I will definitely try it again and I'm sure the next time around will be easier. I found this cute navy blue gingham with a swiss dot fabric at Joanns. The fit is perfect and it's so comfy on. The next one will be without the sleeves.
My Brother-in-law's birthday is Monday and I made him this beer cozy! It was so easy, I used an old wool sweater that I felted. I cut off the sleeve, sewed a circle to the bottom, cut out the guitar out of another old sweater and whipstitched it on. I'm going to embroidery some strings and other details on tonight.
i love the top! maybe i'll have to try and make one, too. I'm not a big clothing-sewer either.

I love these tops! Thanks for the post. I can't imagine where I'll find time to sew for me, but I'm definitely inspired.

For someone who doesn't sew clothes, you did a beautiful job! And the beer cozy is a riot.
