My Mom and I took a "Wonky Log Cabin Tea Cozy" class at Sunflower Fine Fabrics last weekend. The class was taught by my friend Carolyn. This method of making a wonky log cabin is so much fun and a really great way to use up all of my scraps. We had so much fun!
Here is the other side.
I love the idea of creating free form like this, just using favorite bits of fabrics and sewing together without thinking about size or seams. Carolyn was saying that she finds this type of sewing very soothing and I really did too. I could have kept sewing these all day long.
What a cute project and I can see where it would be soothing to just create by "going with the flow," so to speak.

What a great way to use up scrap fabric. And you know I can't ever throw anything away :)

Love the tea cozy, Nice prints too. I hang my tea cozies up because I like them too much to stuff them in a drawer - you should too!

I think it is great to do some free form sewing - breaking the rules makes it so much more fun! :) The tea cozy looks wonderful.

These are adorable! But how do you sew random bits together and make them fit? I want to try this too but can't figure it out. Do you trim as you go making a straight line to sew to? maybe I just need to start sewing and see what happens :) Love the cheery fabrics you chose.

This is so cute...love the DS fabrics. I completely agree...I love to work improvisationally. Patterns can be beautiful, but it is so freeing to work this way!
