I made this little t-shirt with an appliquéd tree for a friend's first birthday. I dyed this t-shirt a while back and had saved a few for gifts. I used my machine to do the blanket stitch around the edges, I love this stitch but need to practice the corners a little more. See the small mistake in the top left corner?
That's super cute! And you even dyed the t-shirt yourself? wow!

What a sweet shirt. What kind of dye did you use? The color is really a delightful shade or orange.

What wonderful work. Did you know that in some cultures, a mistake was always included in one's work based on the premise that only God is perfect and mankind should not be so presumptious. Anyway, I think your t-shirt gift is lovely.

Hi! I just found your blog from I Heart Linen. I love your work - you have such cute ideas! I do have a suggestion for you on your machine blanket stitching.... I do very similar applique on knits and have found that once you get close to a corner, slow down, take your foot off the pedal, and stitch by hand using the hand wheel (isn't that what it's called?) That way you can maneuver the fabric where you want it and can insert the needle exactly onto the corner. I sometimes end up with a slightly shorter stitch - but that's ok. Good luck! Amy
