I'm back! Sisters Quilt Show part 1

Wow, I haven't been here for a while. But, I'm back now and wanted to post pics from my trip to Sisters, OR. I went with my Mom and met up with my Aunt over there. The weather was perfect, the quilts were inspiring and amazing. We had a great time. I have so many great images to share I'll do this in a couple of posts.

 

 
This was probably my most fav quilt of the show. I love the blue/gold color scheme here and the simple blocks.

Dream On baby blanket

I'm totally in love with the Dream On fabric line by Urban Chicks. Isn't it dreamy?

I guess I've been on a little blog break, I'm hoping to be here more often this Fall.

 

finished eye spy snowball quilt

I miss my blog! I have thought about posting here a lot lately but I just don't ever seem to find the time. I have been busy sewing though, and here is my finished eye spy snowball quilt that I made for my son. I went to a quilt guild retreat in February and was able to sew most of this top in one day. This was a really fun quilt to make and I love how bright and cheery it looks on his bed. I backed it with the sock monkey line of polka dot flannels, it is super soft.

 

 

Pacific International Quilt Festival

Has it really been three months since I posted here? I've been gone so long the interface at Typepad even changed. I have been way too busy with a work project and I'm glad to be back. I just spent two fun filled days at the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara, CA with two friends. We had a great time and I have lots of photos of beautiful quilts from the show.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

robot quilt

I made this little baby quilt for my dear friend, who just had a sweet baby boy.

I'm going up to Washington state next month to visit her and will bring this along with some other baby goodies I hope to finish before July!

I love this fabric, it's from Free Spirit fabrics and is called 'Robots' by David Walker.

I used flannel scraps for the back. Hopefully, this is a good start to a very productive month of June.

Log Cabin quilt

You may remember the log cabin quilt I started early last year and finished up late last year.

I decided for the first time to have it quilted by someone with a longarm machine. It took several months to get it back and I have to say that I will probably quilt my own quilts from now on.

I do love the look of all these solids together and the contrast of the log cabin block laid out in this pattern.

Brianna's Quilt

Finished! Just in time to give to my niece, Brianna for Christmas. I love how this turned out, the colors are so rich. I bought these fabrics from FabricWorm a few months ago and decided to do my own version of Amy Butler's Lotus Brick Path pattern.

The fabrics are from Erin McMorris' Park Slope collection, Anna Marie Horner's Garden Party. There is also one super cute fabric from Alexander Henry with lipsticks, ipods and handbags on it, super cute for a "tween".

The binding is just something I had in my stash, I thought it was perfect.

Sadly, as I was cleaning up all the extra threads for this quilt's photoshoot, I was snipping off some random threads and snipped a tiny hole right in the middle of the quilt! I am thinking of either a tiny patch or just a few lines right over it with the sewing machine. I'm sure it won't be noticed by anyone but still it was upsetting.

Now I need to make a couple of quick gifts for Johnnie's preschool teachers...any ideas?

Feliz Dia de los Muertos

Our good friends Lynne and Jack have a Day of the Dead celebration every year. When I saw these amazing fabrics from Alexander Henry a couple of months ago I knew I needed to make something special with them. The party is tonight and I just finished hand stitching the binding on this morning. I love how it turned out.

 

toadstool quilt

Another quilt from PIQF, I love this quilt and you can see why but you really had to see this quilt in person to appreciate the detail. The moss on the tree was exquisite. The artist was from Australia I think, I wish I had wrote down her name to see if she had a website or a blog. Don't you love it?

I had so much fun at PIQF. We were there for two days and it was a really relaxing way to see the show. I bought lots of fabrics and a couple of fun patterns. I had to take my little point and shoot camera that I don't use very often and completely forgot how to use it. I was on the wrong setting for the whole show and almost all my photos were blurry.  I had to show this one though because this was my absolute favorite quilt.
